Production of fish meal and oil – a huge and bold project

 

Unique in terms of quantity and quality of fresh raw material for the production of a high-grade fish meal, it is the key to the success of the entire enterprise. No less important, however, is the creation of approximately 40 new jobs and the further development of “Paula Fish”, and consequently providing employment for further interested.

 

The location of the investment is located in an industrial zone near four fish processing plants. The raw material in the plant will consist of fresh salmon semi-finished products and pelagic fish, both from fishing and from post-production products, in cases when the pelagic fish cannot be used for the implementation of accepted orders due to size reasons.

 

The assumption is to build technological lines to the highest standard, which will allow us to produce the highest quality product from a fresh raw material. The human grade standard in the future gives the possibility to develop functional products based on proteins with a specific peptide chain or individual amino acids (including nutrients, drugs, and dietary supplements). Plants using old technologies and installations that produce meal and oil from stale fish raw material have no chance of achieving the human grade standard. Due to the diversity of the raw material and the possibility of its various applications, it was decided to invest in two independent production lines for the production of fish meal and oil, separately for salmon and for pelagic fish. The assumption is to provide only fresh fish raw material.

 

Production lines for the processing of salmon and pelagic fish, although they will vary in size and yield, they will be very similar in their concept. The need to install two lines results from the different processing characteristics of the raw material, different characteristics of raw material availability, the need to separate species due to different product markets, and additional activities of pre-treatment of pelagic fish from dioxins. In a nutshell, the process will involve fragmentation of the raw material and its heating, after which the decanters and separators will be separated from pulp (wet mass of the product), which after drying and crushing will be the main product which is the fish meal.

The individual elements of the installation will be designed and manufactured with respect to the best standard and environmentally friendly solutions that are not invasive to the environment of the production plant.

Control over unpleasant odor

The entire ventilation system of the plant has been designed in such a way that the technological line is ventilated directly in the place of aroma formation, and the entire air stream flows straight into the purification. In addition, the high-performance ventilation system of the production halls has been designed so that the smell can only escape from the treatment room through the filter system.

 

To ensure the comfort of the local community, the plant will be equipped with a proven filter system that minimizes the level of odor compounds emanating from the factory.

 

Complex cleaning systems will be installed on the site, eg biofilters that stop almost completely odor emissions. They are biological air filters used to remove odors of organic origin. Purification of air consists in catching organic odor compounds by feeding them bacteria deposited in a biofilter, as well as through organic odor absorbing inserts. Ideally suited to processing plants, sewage treatment plants, and sewage pumping stations.

 

The chosen technology guarantees the production of the highest quality fish oil and meal. For this purpose, it is necessary to process fresh raw material in the form of fish and fish post-production rejects. The plant will not carry out any recycling or processing of stale and unknown origin of the raw material. The raw material delivered to the plant will be unloaded directly to the plant.
